《The Battle of New Orleans》歌词

[00:00:07] Well, this here's the story about the Battle of New Orleans,
[00:00:10] Which was fit between the Yankees of course and them there English people,
[00:00:17] In which the British came off rather ignominiously.
[00:00:24] Well, in 1814, we took a little trip,
[00:00:26] Along the Colonel Packenham down the mighty Mississipp.
[00:00:33] We took a little bacon and we took a little beans,
[00:00:36] And we fought the bloomin' British in the town of New Orleans
[00:00:41] Well, we fired our guns and the British kept a comin',
[00:00:44] There wasn't nigh as many as there was a while ago.
[00:00:48] We fired once more and they began a running,
[00:00:50] On down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico.
[00:00:59] Well, we looked down the river till we see the British come,
[00:01:02] There must have been a hundred of 'em beatin' on the drum.
[00:01:05] They stepped so high and they made the bugles ring,
[00:01:08] Well, we stood beside our cotton bales and never said a thing.
[00:01:11] Well, we looked down the river till we see the British come,
[00:01:23] And there must have been a hundred of them beating on the drum.
[00:01:29] They stepped so high and they made their bugles ring,
[00:01:32] While we stood behind our cotton bales and didn't say a thing.
[00:01:43] Well, Packenham said we could take 'em by surprise,
[00:02:00] If we didn't fire a musket till we looked `em in the eyes.
[00:02:02] Well, we stood quite still till we see their face well,
[00:02:04] Then we opened up our muskets and we really gave 'em well.
[00:02:06] Well, we fired our guns and the British kept a comin',
[00:02:08] There wasn't nigh as many as there was a while ago.
[00:02:10] We fired once more and they began a running,
[00:02:10] On down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico.
[00:02:11] Well, they ran through the briars and they ran through the brambles,
[00:02:14] And they ran through the bushes where the rabbits couldn't go.
[00:02:16] They ran so fast that the houndscouldn't catch 'em,
[00:02:19] All down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico.
[00:02:28] Well, we fired our muskets so the barrels melted down,
[00:02:30] Then grabbed an alligator and we fought another round.
[00:02:33] Well, we stuffed his head with cannon balls and powdered his behind,
[00:02:39] So when we touched the powder off, the 'gator lost his mind.
[00:02:41] Down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico. 4x
