《Bill (2004 Remaster)》歌词

Bill (2004 Remaster)

[00:00:06] Big Bill Smith was rough and tough as a mining man could be

[00:00:12] And he said I'll blaze a trail right down those ranges to the sea

[00:00:19] And Big Bill Smith he did just that when he found the Barron River

[00:00:26] Where the Myall blacks and crocodiles would set your bones a shiver

[00:00:31] Then he said I've dug too long for gold I'll find it the easy way

[00:00:38] And he built a pub there in the scrub where Smithfield is today

[00:00:43] The Thornborough miners dug their gold and the packers brought it down

[00:00:49] And they quenched their thirst in Big Bill's bar right there in Big Bill's town

[00:00:56] Well the traders came and built a town and they named it after Bill

[00:01:04] Then the gamblers and the women came their pockets for to fill

[00:01:08] The gold came down and Smithfield boomed and a roaring town it was

[00:01:16] And it's even said that Big Bill's horse with golden shoes were shod

[00:01:22] Big Bill was king of Smithfield town and Palmer Kate was queen

[00:01:28] And the only god they knew came down the range in a golden stream

[00:01:34] The wickedest town in Australia was its dubious claim to fame

[00:01:39] And the things they did for a bag of gold would put the devil himself to shame

[00:01:47] And the myall blacks looked on with awe as the white men died in fights

[00:01:55] For a bag of gold or the favours of a woman for the night

[00:01:58] And Big Bill met his death that way out in that muddy street

[00:02:05] He traded lead for a bag of gold and Big Bill Smith was beat

[00:02:11] Oh they buried Bill there in the scrub and they drank his hotel dry

[00:02:15] Was the grandest wake they'd ever had the day that Big Bill died

[00:02:19] Yes Big Bill died and his town did too in the face of old man flood

[00:02:22] For the Barron river it took the lot and buried it deep in mud

[00:02:25] Oh there's nought to see of the old town now for they never rebuilt it there

[00:02:33] And I'll bet the ghost of Big Bill Smith is still around somewhere

[00:02:38] And if you see that sign on that northern road and you're thinking about this tale

[00:02:54] Well spare a thought for Big Bill Smith and the men who blazed the trail

[00:03:01] Guitar Solo
