A Piece of Groud

[00:00:00] A Piece of Groud - Miriam Makeba (米瑞安·马卡贝)

[00:00:09] When the white man first came here from over the seas

[00:00:14] He looked and he said

[00:00:16] this is God's own country

[00:00:20] He was mighty well pleased with this land that he'd found

[00:00:25] And he said I will make here my own piece of ground

[00:00:33] Now many's the battle he still had to fight

[00:00:36] Many's the family that died in the night

[00:00:43] For many were the black men that lived all around

[00:00:48] And all of them wanting their own piece of ground

[00:00:58] Then one fine day in 1883

[00:01:03] Gold was discovered in good quantity

[00:01:08] The country was rich

[00:01:09] much richer than planned

[00:01:13] And each digger wanted his own piece of land

[00:01:21] Now the white diggers were few and the gold was so deep

[00:01:27] That the black man was called 'cause his labor was cheap

[00:01:32] With drill and with shovel he toiled underground

[00:01:38] For six pennies a day to tender the ground

[00:01:46] Now this land is so rich and it seems strange to me

[00:01:51] That the black man whose labor has helped it to be

[00:01:56] Cannot enjoy the fruits that abound

[00:02:01] Is uprooted and kicked from his own piece of ground

[00:02:09] Some people say now don't you worry

[00:02:15] We've kept you a nice piece of reserve territory

[00:02:20] But how can a life for so many be found

[00:02:25] On a miserable thirty per cent of the ground

[00:02:34] Yet some people say now don't you worry

[00:02:39] You can always find jobs in the white man's city

[00:02:44] But don't stay too long and don't stay too deep

[00:02:49] Or you're bound to disturb the white man in his sleep

[00:02:58] White man don't sleep long and don't sleep too deep

[00:03:05] Or your life and your possessions

[00:03:08] how long will you keep

[00:03:13] For I've heard a rumor that's running around

[00:03:18] That the black man's demanding his own piece of ground

[00:03:26] His own piece of ground
