The Little Grave

[00:00:00] The Little Grave (小坟墓) - John D. Loudermilk (约翰尼·迪伊)

[00:00:01] Written by:John D. Loudermilk

[00:00:04] On Christmas eve I went a walking out beyond the city gate

[00:00:12] For to fetch a fresh young pheasant for my darling's Christmas plate

[00:00:23] It was snowing oh so quietly and the woods were wide and soft

[00:00:32] Just the sound of snowflakes falling and the footsteps as I walked

[00:00:42] There I saw a fresh young pheasant and I shot and I killed him there

[00:00:53] And I heard a distant church bell as the bird fell from the air

[00:01:23] As I held his dying body the strangest thought came over me

[00:01:31] God had made this little body that I have killed on Christmas eve

[00:01:42] All the woods were dark and shadowed with the light the cold stars gave

[00:01:53] I sent a prayer to god in heaven and covered up the little grave

[00:02:02] And covered up the little grave
