Sweet Sixteen

[00:00:00] Sweet Sixteen - So What! (朱迪·嘉兰)

[00:00:00] Written by:Roger Edens/Joe Josea

[00:00:09] For fifteen years I've played a waiting game

[00:00:14] I've suffered like they do in russian plays

[00:00:20] But if what's in store is really what they claim

[00:00:25] I must admit that suffering really pays

[00:00:31] For fifteen years I've been just like a prisoner in a cell

[00:00:37] For fifteen years my life has been just awful

[00:00:43] From one to four was such a bore

[00:00:47] I remember how I hated having all those people paw all over me

[00:00:49] And talk baby talk

[00:00:51] They'd say goo goo isn't she cunning poor dear

[00:00:54] She has her father's nose

[00:00:55] Ah tic a tic a tic a tic a tic a the years

[00:00:58] From five to eight I hate I've grown into a

[00:01:01] Very unattractive child and consequently was utterly

[00:01:04] And completely ignored but

[00:01:06] I didn't really mind I had a book of mother goose

[00:01:10] And mother goose is pretty

[00:01:11] Hot stuff when you're five years old

[00:01:14] At nine I had the measles so that didn't count at ten

[00:01:19] I'd reached the performing

[00:01:21] Stage and at the drop of a hat mother would call me in

[00:01:24] And have me sing the

[00:01:25] Rosary for her guests I never will forget how papa used to squirm

[00:01:28] When I hit

[00:01:29] That high note

[00:01:31] From eleven to thirteen I'd rather not speak of it was bad enough having

[00:01:35] Jimmy doogan pull my hair in school but it was positively humiliating to have

[00:01:39] My own mother refer to me as her dear little ugly duckling

[00:01:44] At fourteen I had my first taste of romance it was at a party

[00:01:50] At dancing school

[00:01:52] And he was younger than I was shorter than I was oh

[00:01:59] But he had a wonderful

[00:02:01] Name archibold and he really like me too he really did but

[00:02:06] I had to go and

[00:02:07] Spoil it all I asked him right out if he'd be my best beau

[00:02:13] That was the last I ever

[00:02:14] Saw of him

[00:02:16] By now I was fifteen and pretty miserable mother refused to

[00:02:20] Let me wear any lipstick

[00:02:21] Or rouge and I went around looking as pale as death

[00:02:26] It was then that I decided to join the

[00:02:27] Monastary and I would have too if it hadn't been for bing crosby

[00:02:34] I was afraid they wouldn't

[00:02:35] Have any radios in manastaries so I devoted my fifteenth year to kraft cheese

[00:02:43] But now it's a different story I can brush away the tears

[00:02:49] And lau augh at those awful fifteen years for now I'm

[00:02:58] Sweet sixteen and I've got my first long dress

[00:03:06] I can even have a date one night a week

[00:03:12] I can paint my lips a little and rouge my cheeks

[00:03:17] I'm sweet sixteen but I really must confess

[00:03:25] Although this grown up life isn't simple

[00:03:31] I wouldn't change places with shirley temple

[00:03:36] Gee it's great to be just as free as the birds above me

[00:03:46] I'm a juliet out to get a romeo to love me

[00:03:53] I ask you please forget that I was an in between

[00:04:02] I mean I'm a woman of the world

[00:04:07] I'm sweet sixteen
