The Story Of the First Christmas: O Little Town of Bethlehem / Come, Come, Come to the Manger / the First Nol / o Come All Ye Faithful / We Three Kings of Orient Are / Silent Night

[00:00:00] The Story of the First Christmas (1959 Version) - Perry Como

[00:00:30] This is Perry Como

[00:00:31] And I'd like to tell you the most wonderful

[00:00:32] The most beautiful

[00:00:34] The most exciting story in the whole world

[00:00:38] The Story of the First Christmas

[00:00:44] Now suppose you make believe

[00:00:45] This is many many years ago

[00:00:47] A long time before you were born

[00:00:49] You're standing on a hillside

[00:00:51] Near a little town in Palestine

[00:00:54] Do you see the man in the distance

[00:00:56] Walking slowly leading a donkey

[00:00:59] His name is Joseph

[00:01:02] Someone is sitting on the back of the donkey

[00:01:05] And her name is Mary

[00:01:08] They've come a long long way

[00:01:11] And they're heading for a little town near the hillside

[00:01:13] On which we're standing

[00:01:16] Something very special will happen

[00:01:18] In this little town tonight

[00:01:21] For this is the little town of Bethlehem

[00:01:32] Oh little town of Bethlehem

[00:01:38] How still we see thee lie

[00:01:44] Above thy deep and dreamless sleep

[00:01:51] The silent stars go by

[00:01:58] Yet in thy dark streets shineth

[00:02:04] The everlasting light

[00:02:11] The hopes and fears of all the years

[00:02:18] Are met in thee tonight

[00:02:32] Let's follow Joseph and Mary

[00:02:33] Into the town of Bethlehem

[00:02:37] It's getting dark and all of

[00:02:38] The rooms at the Inn are taken

[00:02:39] But the kindly Innkeeper tells them

[00:02:41] They could spend the night at a stable nearby

[00:02:45] Now I told you something was gonna happen

[00:02:48] And it did

[00:02:50] A baby boy is born to Mary and Joseph

[00:02:52] Whom they call Jesus

[00:02:55] They have no baby's crib

[00:02:57] So Mary puts little Jesus to sleep

[00:03:00] In the soft sweet hay of a manger

[00:03:04] Come come come to the manger

[00:03:08] Children sing and asleep on the hay

[00:03:13] Sing sing chorus of Angels

[00:03:19] Little Lord Jesus is born on this day

[00:03:30] Jesus is asleep in the manger

[00:03:31] So let's tiptoe out to the hillside near Bethlehem

[00:03:34] Where the Shepherds are tending their flock

[00:03:38] All at once the Shepherds are frightened

[00:03:41] You'd be frightened too

[00:03:42] Because a great light suddenly shines in the sky

[00:03:49] Even the animals are hushed and still

[00:03:52] But then you hear the voice of an Angel of the Lord

[00:04:02] And you're no longer frightened

[00:04:03] For the Angel brings good news

[00:04:06] News of a Saviour born this day

[00:04:09] News of Christ the Lord

[00:04:14] The First Noel the Angels did say

[00:04:22] Was to certain poor Shepherds

[00:04:27] In fields as they lay in fields where they

[00:04:33] Lay keeping their sheep

[00:04:36] On a cold winter's night that was so deep

[00:04:44] Noel Noel Noel Noel

[00:04:53] Born is the King of Israel

[00:05:08] Well we're still with the Shepherds

[00:05:10] On the hillside near Bethlehem

[00:05:13] We hear the Shepherds ask the Angel

[00:05:15] Where to find the Christ-child

[00:05:17] And the Angel tells them to go to the manger

[00:05:21] And as they leave the sky is filled with

[00:05:23] Other Angels singing

[00:05:25] Glory to God And on Earth Peace Goodwill to Men

[00:05:39] The Shepherds hurry to the manger

[00:05:40] Fall on their knees before the baby

[00:05:42] And they worship him

[00:05:45] For He is Christ the Lord

[00:05:51] Oh Come all ye faithful

[00:05:57] Joyful and triumphant

[00:06:02] Oh Come ye Oh Come ye to Bethlehem

[00:06:15] Come and behold Him

[00:06:20] Born the King of Angels

[00:06:26] Oh Come let us adore Him

[00:06:34] Oh Come let us adore Him

[00:06:41] Oh Come let us adore Him

[00:06:50] Christ the Lord

[00:07:03] And now look up into the sky

[00:07:05] Do you see that bright star

[00:07:06] Twinkling in the heavens

[00:07:08] Far away three men are looking at

[00:07:10] That star just as we are

[00:07:13] They're riding on camels

[00:07:15] And they're using the star as a guide

[00:07:17] To lead them to the Christ-child

[00:07:21] Who are these three men who follow the star

[00:07:25] We Three Kings of Orient are

[00:07:29] Bearing gifts we traverse afar

[00:07:33] Field and fountain moor and mountain

[00:07:40] Following yonder star

[00:07:49] Yes the three men on the camels

[00:07:51] Are the three wise men

[00:07:54] The new star guides them straight to Bethlehem

[00:07:55] To a little baby lying in a manger

[00:07:59] There the three wise men present

[00:08:01] Gifts to the Christ-child

[00:08:04] The first Christmas gifts ever given to anyone

[00:08:07] A gift of gold of frankincense and of Mir

[00:08:16] And they too fall on their knees to worship Him

[00:08:18] And now a great peace settles on the night

[00:08:22] For it is the Holy Night

[00:08:26] Silent night holy night

[00:08:36] All is calm all is bright

[00:08:47] Round yon virgin mother and child

[00:08:56] Holy infant so tender and mild

[00:09:06] Sleep in heavenly peace

[00:09:17] Sleep in heavenly peace

[00:09:29] This is why when we celebrate Christmas

[00:09:30] We think of Bethlehem

[00:09:33] We think of the Virgin Mary

[00:09:36] We think of the three wise men

[00:09:38] And the birth of the Christ-child

[00:09:41] The First Christmas

[00:09:43] Oh Come let us adore Him

[00:09:50] Christ the Lord
