Death Of Emmet Till

[00:00:00] Death Of Emmet Till - Bob Dylan (鲍勃·迪伦)

[00:00:01] Lyricist:Bob Dylan

[00:00:03] Composer:Bob Dylan

[00:00:04] 'Twas down in Mississippi

[00:00:10] No so long ago

[00:00:14] When a young boy

[00:00:16] From Chicago

[00:00:18] Walked through a Southern door

[00:00:24] This boy's dreadful tragedy

[00:00:28] He should all remember well

[00:00:32] The color of

[00:00:35] His skin was black

[00:00:37] And his name was

[00:00:39] Emmett Till

[00:00:44] Some men they dragged him to a barn

[00:00:50] And there they beat him up

[00:00:53] They said they had a reason

[00:00:58] But I disremember what

[00:01:02] They tortured him

[00:01:05] And did some things

[00:01:07] Too evil

[00:01:09] To repeat

[00:01:12] There was screaming sounds

[00:01:14] Inside the barn

[00:01:16] There was laughing sounds out on the street

[00:01:22] Then they rolled his

[00:01:24] Body down a gulf

[00:01:27] Amidst a bloody red rain

[00:01:31] And they threw him in the waters wide

[00:01:36] To cease his screaming pain

[00:01:40] The reason that

[00:01:43] They killed him there

[00:01:45] And I'm sure it was't no lie

[00:01:50] Was just for

[00:01:52] The fun of killing him

[00:01:54] And to watch him slowly die

[00:01:59] And then to stop

[00:02:01] The united states

[00:02:03] Of yelling for a trial

[00:02:08] Two brothers they confessed that they

[00:02:12] Had killed poor Emmett Till

[00:02:17] But on the jury there were men

[00:02:21] Who helped the brothers

[00:02:23] Commit this awful crime

[00:02:26] And so this trial

[00:02:28] Was a mockery

[00:02:30] But nobody seemed to mind

[00:02:36] I saw the morning papers

[00:02:42] But I could not bear

[00:02:45] To see the smiling brothers

[00:02:50] Walking down the courthouse stairs

[00:02:55] For the jury found

[00:02:57] Them innocent

[00:02:59] And the brothers

[00:03:01] They went free

[00:03:04] While Emmett's body floats the foam

[00:03:08] Of a Jim Crow Southern sea

[00:03:15] If you can't speak out

[00:03:17] Against this kind of thing

[00:03:20] A crime that's so unjust

[00:03:24] Your eyes are filled with dead men's dirt

[00:03:29] Your mind is filled with dust

[00:03:33] Your arms and legs

[00:03:35] They must be in shackles and chains

[00:03:38] And your blood it must refuse to flow

[00:03:42] For you to let

[00:03:44] This human race

[00:03:47] Fall down so God awful low

[00:03:51] This song's just a reminder

[00:03:56] To remind your fellow man

[00:04:00] That this kind of thing still lives today

[00:04:05] In that ghost robed Ku Klux Klan

[00:04:09] But if all of us folks

[00:04:11] That thinks alike

[00:04:13] If we gave all we could give

[00:04:18] We'd make this

[00:04:20] Great land of ours

[00:04:23] A greater place to live
