Mary of the Wild Moor

[00:00:00] Mary Of The Wild Moor - The Louvin Brothers

[00:00:03] Written by:Traditional/Dennis Turner

[00:00:06] It was on one cold winter night

[00:00:11] When the wind blew across the wild moor

[00:00:16] When Mary came wandering home with her child

[00:00:21] Till she came to her own father's door

[00:00:27] Father dear father she cried

[00:00:32] Come down and open the door

[00:00:37] Or the child in my arms will perish and die

[00:00:42] From the winds that blow across the wild moor

[00:00:47] Why did I leave this fair spot

[00:00:53] Where once I was happy and free

[00:00:58] I am now tune to roam without friends or a home

[00:01:04] And no one to take pity on me

[00:01:14] But her father was deaf to her cry

[00:01:20] Not a sound of her voice did he hear

[00:01:25] So the watch dog did howl and the village bells tolled

[00:01:30] And the wind blew across the wild moor

[00:01:36] Oh how the old man must have felt

[00:01:41] When he came to the door the next morning

[00:01:47] And he found Mary dead but the child still alive

[00:01:52] Closely grasping his dead mother's arms

[00:01:57] In anger she tore his gray hair

[00:02:03] And the tears down his cheeks they did pour

[00:02:08] When he saw how that nit she had perished and died

[00:02:14] From the wind that blew across the wild moor

[00:02:25] In grief the old man passed away

[00:02:30] And the child to it's mother went soon

[00:02:35] And no one they say have lives there to this day

[00:02:41] And the cottage to ruin has gone

[00:02:46] But the villagers point out the spot

[00:02:52] Where the willows grew over the door

[00:02:57] Saying there Mary died once the gay village bride

[00:03:02] From the wind that blow across the wild moor
