1913 Massacre(Album Version)

[00:00:00] 1913 Massacre (1913年大屠杀) - Ramblin' Jack Elliott

[00:00:02] Take a trip with me in nineteen thirty

[00:00:07] To Calumet Michigan in the copper country

[00:00:13] I'll take you to a place called Italian Hall

[00:00:18] And the miners are having their big Christmas ball

[00:00:25] I'll take you in a door and up a high stairs

[00:00:29] Singing and dancing is heard everywhere

[00:00:33] I'll let you shake hands with the people you see

[00:00:39] And watch the kids dance around the big Christmas tree

[00:00:45] There's talking and laughing and songs in the air

[00:00:51] And the spirit of Christmas is there everywhere

[00:00:54] Before you know it you're friends with us all

[00:00:58] And you're dancing around and around in the hall

[00:01:06] You ask about work and you ask about the pay

[00:01:10] They'll tell you they make less than a dollar a day

[00:01:14] Working their copper claims risking their lives

[00:01:19] So it's fun to spend Christmas with children and wives

[00:01:27] A little girl sits down by the Christmas tree lights

[00:01:30] To play the piano so you gotta keep quiet

[00:01:33] To hear all this fun you would not realize

[00:01:38] That the copper boss thug men are milling outside

[00:01:45] The copper boss thugs stuck their heads in the door

[00:01:48] One of them yelled and he screamed there's a fire

[00:01:52] A lady she hollered there's no such a thing

[00:01:56] Keep on with your party there's no such a thing

[00:02:03] A few people rushed and there's only a few

[00:02:06] It's just the thugs and the scabs fooling you

[00:02:10] A man grabbed his daughter and he carried her down

[00:02:15] But the thugs held the door and he could not get out

[00:02:21] And then others followed about a hundred or more

[00:02:24] Most everybody remained on the floor

[00:02:28] The gun thugs they laughed at their murderous joke

[00:02:33] And the children were smothered on the stairs by the door

[00:02:39] Such a terrible sight I never did see

[00:02:43] We carried our children back up to their tree

[00:02:49] The scabs outside still laughed at their spree

[00:02:55] And the children that died there was seventy-three

[00:03:03] The piano played a slow funeral tune

[00:03:07] And the town was lit up by a cold Christmas moon

[00:03:13] The parents they cried and the men they moaned

[00:03:18] See what your greed for money has done
