[00:10:45] And the green trees lapped gently at their own dust which formed her body

[00:10:52] And she stopped running

[00:11:04] It had been a miserable night

[00:11:07] And they were excited to be able to go into the alley and play today

[00:11:12] They bounced the ball against the cracked bricks of the tall buildings

[00:11:16] And he even let her win a few times

[00:11:19] But this turn he was going to win

[00:11:22] With all the bravado a big brother can muster

[00:11:25] He slammed the ball at the corner of the building where the curb met the bricks

[00:11:30] The ball ricocheted down the alley towards an oncoming truck

[00:11:34] As it did it dislodged some old newspaper crumblings

[00:11:37] And in the tired yellow light cascading onto the alley through the old buildings

[00:11:42] They saw it

[00:11:44] His sister screamed and went running back through the shabby aluminum door

[00:11:48] Into their mother's apartment

[00:11:51] But he couldn't move

[00:11:53] He stared at her

[00:12:00] They drove down the alley

[00:12:02] What a miserable day

[00:12:04] The night had been cold and whenever the nights were cold

[00:12:07] He knew it would be a long day

[00:12:10] He watched as two children bounced a ball against the side of the grimy building

[00:12:16] The ball got away from them and in the tired yellow haze peering through the buildings

[00:12:20] He saw the ball dislodge some old papers

[00:12:24] And underneath it he saw another one

[00:12:27] They stopped the truck and walked over to the body

[00:12:31] It was not her it was never her it was a shell

[00:12:37] He wondered who she was

[00:12:40] They picked her up and he knew that beneath his gloves there was coldness

[00:12:46] But her open eyes seemed peaceful somehow that brought him comfort

[00:12:52] He looked into her eyes as the red of the bag enveloped her body and she was gone

[00:13:00] It was then that he noticed the boy

[00:13:03] He hadn't moved but was staring at them with large questioning eyes

[00:13:09] He nodded at the boy as they carried her back to their truck

[00:13:13] And attempted a smile through his mask

[00:13:16] The boy was motionless

[00:13:20] We're just taking her someplace where she can rest was all he managed

[00:13:26] I know what the green trucks mean said the boy bravely

[00:13:30] But you've never seen this before

[00:13:34] The boy shook his head

[00:13:36] Fighting back the tears for which he had been taught he was too old
