Death of Emmett Till(Live)

[00:00:00] Death of Emmett Till (Live) - Bob Dylan (鲍勃·迪伦)

[00:00:02] 'Twas down in Mississippi not so long ago

[00:01:01] When a young boy from Chicago town

[00:01:07] Stepped through a Southern door

[00:01:10] This boy's dreadful tragedy

[00:01:15] I can still remember well

[00:01:19] The color of his skin was black

[00:01:24] And his name was Emmett Till

[00:01:28] Some men they dragged him to a barn

[00:01:35] And there they beat him up

[00:01:38] They said they had a reason

[00:01:42] But I disremember what

[00:01:47] They tortured him and

[00:01:50] Did some evil things too evil to

[00:01:54] Repeat

[00:01:55] There was screaming sounds inside the barn

[00:02:00] There was laughing sounds out on the street

[00:02:04] Then they rolled his body

[00:02:10] Down a gulf amidst a blood-red rain

[00:02:15] And they threw him in the waters wide to cease his

[00:02:22] Screaming pain

[00:02:22] The reason that they killed him there

[00:02:28] And I'm sure it ain't no lie

[00:02:32] He was a black-skinned boy so

[00:02:38] He was born to die

[00:02:40] And then to stop the United States

[00:02:47] Of yelling for a trial

[00:02:51] Two brothers they confessed

[00:02:54] That they had killed poor

[00:02:58] Emmett Till

[00:02:59] But on the jury there were men

[00:03:04] Who helped the brothers

[00:03:06] Commit this awful crime

[00:03:07] And so this trial was a mockery

[00:03:12] But nobody seemed to mind

[00:03:16] I saw the morning papers

[00:03:23] But I could not bear to see

[00:03:28] The smiling brothers walkin' down

[00:03:33] The courthouse stairs

[00:03:35] For the jury found them innocent

[00:03:39] And the brothers they went free

[00:03:43] While Emmett's body floats the foam

[00:03:48] Of a Jim Crow southern sea

[00:03:52] If you can't speak out against this kind of thing

[00:03:58] A crime that's so unjust

[00:04:02] Your eyes are filled with dead men's dirt

[00:04:06] Your mind is filled with dust

[00:04:10] Your arms and legs they

[00:04:14] Must be in shackles and chains

[00:04:15] And your blood it must refuse to flow

[00:04:18] For you let this human race fall

[00:04:24] Down so God-awful low

[00:04:27] This song is just a reminder

[00:04:33] To remind your fellow man

[00:04:37] That this kind of thing still lives today in that

[00:04:44] Ghost-robed Ku Klux Klan

[00:04:46] But if all us folks that thinks alike

[00:04:50] If we gave all we could give

[00:04:54] We could make this great land of ours

[00:04:59] A greater place to live
