Onilley’s Strange Dream

[00:00:00] 作曲: Bidini, Tielli

[00:00:10] Dave Bidini and Martin Tielli

[00:00:37] Some sailors never die. They rot at sea.

[00:00:43] Hello, my friends.

[00:00:45] My name is Onilley McNoan--to me.

[00:00:54] I went to war on the Caroline.

[00:00:58] Remember from that other song?

[00:01:01] Well?

[00:01:02] There the author got it wrong.

[00:01:09] Survive did I--I did not drown.

[00:01:17] I lived on Turtle Isle.

[00:01:24] I jumped the Caroline

[00:01:26] For she'd been had by Neptune.

[00:01:43] Gadungder burped the sea;

[00:01:48] Now coral grows inside her hull.

[00:02:01] Me and Jim, my lifeboat friend--

[00:02:05] Strips of flesh torn from his limbs.

[00:02:09] Well, Chicken Jimmy kept me alive.

[00:02:16] (Though wasn't much for conversation.)

[00:02:25] Life-boat this and life-boat that;

[00:02:27] For days and days I fought the waves

[00:02:32] And landed on an open beach of gold and blue.

[00:02:45] I picked myself up off the sand.

[00:02:49] I Hauled my body onto the land

[00:02:54] And from the jungle there they stand...

[00:03:00] They layered colors on my face and on my arms.

[00:03:10] Hornbills squawked;I fed on fruit and wild boar.

[00:03:15] I showed them guns and taught them how to sing Lang Syne,

[00:03:27] And everyone was happy.

[00:03:38] She was the queen with funny teeth.

[00:03:42] She tried to hide them underneath

[00:03:47] Her dainty hands and nervous lips.

[00:03:55] Though I could not tell her so,

[00:03:59] She was the one who kept me breathing.

[00:04:03] While the wild volcanoes flared.

[00:04:10] She told me I was sick with pride--

[00:04:15] All pumped up and sentimental.

[00:04:22] The sky grew dark with ash,

[00:04:28] And powder settled on the water.

[00:04:41] Gadungder burped the sea

[00:04:46] And funnels spiralled down to take her.

[00:04:57] I climbed the highest tree

[00:05:04] And from the sky I heard her call.

[00:05:53] From this dream--as I awoke--

[00:05:57] I could have sworn that Jimmy spoke,

[00:06:01] But it was probably just the boat.

[00:06:06] Some sailors never die.

[00:06:09] I woke up under an ocean sky

[00:06:15] With a pile of bones laying at my side.
