1913 Massacre

[00:00:00] 1913 Massacre (1913年大屠杀) - Ramblin' Jack Elliott

[00:00:05] Take a trip with me in nineteen thirteen

[00:00:10] To Calumet Michigan in the copper country

[00:00:16] I'll take you to a place called Italian Hall

[00:00:23] And the miners are having their big Christmas ball

[00:00:31] I'll take you in a door and up a high stairs

[00:00:35] Singing and dancing is heard everywhere

[00:00:39] I'll let you shake hands with the people you see

[00:00:46] And watch the kids dance around the big Christmas tree

[00:00:54] There's talking and laughing and songs in the air

[00:00:58] And the spirit of Christmas is there everywhere

[00:01:02] Before you know it you're friends with us all

[00:01:07] And you're dancing around and around in the hall

[00:01:15] You ask about work and you ask about pay

[00:01:19] They'll tell you they make less than a dollar a day

[00:01:23] Working their copper claims risking their lives

[00:01:28] So it's fun to spend Christmas with children and wives

[00:01:37] A little girl sits down by the Christmas tree lights

[00:01:40] To play the piano so you gotta keep quiet

[00:01:44] To hear all this fun you would not realize

[00:01:48] That the copper boss thug men are milling outside

[00:01:57] The copper boss thugs stuck their heads in the door

[00:02:00] One of them yelled and he screamed There's a fire

[00:02:05] A lady she hollered There's no such a thing

[00:02:09] Keep on with your party there's no such a thing

[00:02:18] A few people rushed and there's only a few

[00:02:21] It's just the thugs and the scabs fooling you

[00:02:25] A man grabbed his daughter and he carried her down

[00:02:29] But the thugs held the door and he could not get out

[00:02:37] And then others followed about a hundred or more

[00:02:41] But most everybody remained on the floor

[00:02:45] The gun thugs they laughed at their murderous joke

[00:02:49] And the children were smothered on the stairs by the door

[00:02:58] Such a terrible sight I never did see

[00:03:02] We carried our children back up to their tree

[00:03:06] The scabs outside still laughed at their spree

[00:03:14] And the children that died there was seventy-three

[00:03:24] The piano played a slow funeral tune

[00:03:27] And the town was lit up by a cold Christmas moon

[00:03:32] The parents they cried and the men they moaned

[00:03:39] See what your greed for money has done
