The Seasons

[00:00:00] The Seasons - Loreena McKennitt (罗琳娜·麦肯尼特)

[00:00:16] Traditional English, arranged by Loreena McKennitt

[00:00:20] Come all you lads and lasses,

[00:00:23] I'd have you give attention

[00:00:26] To these few lines I'm about to write here,

[00:00:32] 'Tis of the four seasons of the year that I shall mention,

[00:00:38] The beauty of all things doth appear.

[00:00:45] And now you are young and all in your prosperity,

[00:00:51] Come cheer up your hearts and revive like the spring

[00:00:58] Join off in pairs like the birds in February

[00:01:04] That St. Valentine's Day it forth do bring.

[00:01:20] Then cometh Spring, which all the land doth nourish;

[00:01:25] The fields are beginning to be decked with green,

[00:01:32] The trees put forth their buds

[00:01:34] and the blossoms they do flourish,

[00:01:38] And the tender blades of corn on the earth are to be seen.

[00:01:44] Don't you see the little lambs by the dams a-playing?

[00:01:50] The cuckoo is singing in the shady grove.

[00:01:57] The flowers they are springing,

[00:02:00] the maids they go a-Maying,

[00:02:03] In love all hearts seem now to move.

[00:02:18] Next cometh Autumn with the sun so hot and piercing;

[00:02:25] The sportsman goes forth with his dog and his gun

[00:02:32] To fetch down the woodcock,

[00:02:35] the partridge and the pheasant,

[00:02:38] For health and for profit as well as for fun.

[00:02:44] Behold, with loaded apple-trees the farmer is befriended,

[00:02:50] They will fill up his casks that have long laid dry.

[00:02:57] All nature seems to weary now,

[00:03:01] her task is nearly ended,

[00:03:05] And more of the seasons will come by and by.

[00:03:30] When night comes on with song

[00:03:32] and tale we pass the wintry hours;

[00:03:37] By keeping up a cheerful heart we hope for better days.

[00:03:44] We tend the cattle, sow the seed,

[00:03:47] give work unto the ploughers,

[00:03:51] With patience wait till winter yields

[00:03:54] before the sun's fair rays.

[00:03:58] And so the world goes round and round,

[00:04:01] and every time and season

[00:04:05] With pleasure and with profit

[00:04:07] crowns the passage of the year,

[00:04:12] And so through every time of life,

[00:04:15] to him who acts with reason,

[00:04:19] The beauty of all things doth appear.

[00:04:45] END
