《Slattery’s Mounted Fut》歌词
[00:00:00] Slattery's Mounted Fut - John Roche
[00:00:00] Written by: Percy French
[00:00:10] You've heard of Julius Ceasar and the great Napoleon too
[00:00:14] And how the Cork militia beat the Turks at Waterloo
[00:00:19] But there's a page of glory that as yet remains uncut
[00:00:24] And that's the warlike story of old Slattery's Mounted Fut
[00:00:29] This gallant corps was organised by Slattery and his son
[00:00:33] A noble-minded poacher with a double-breasted gun
[00:00:38] And many a head was broken aye and many an eye was shot
[00:00:43] When practising maneuvers in the Slattery's Mounted Fut
[00:00:47] And down from the mountains came the squadrons and platoons
[00:00:53] Four-and-twenty fighting men and a couple of stout gossoons
[00:00:57] When going into action held each musket by the butt
[00:01:02] We sang this song and marched along the Slattery's mounted Fut
[00:01:12] Well first we reconnoitered 'round O'Sullivan's Shabeen
[00:01:16] It used to be a chop house but we called it the canteen
[00:01:21] And there we saw a notice which the bravest heart unnerved
[00:01:26] All liquor must be settled for before the drink is served
[00:01:31] So on we marched but soon again each warrior's heart grew pale
[00:01:35] For rising high in front of us we saw the county jail
[00:01:40] And when the army faced about 'twas just in time to find
[00:01:45] A couple of stout policemen had surrounded us behind
[00:01:50] And down from the mountains came the squadrons and platoons
[00:01:55] Four-and-twenty fighting men and a couple of stout gossoons
[00:01:59] When going into action held each musket by the butt
[00:02:04] We sang the song and marched along the Slattery's mounted fut
[00:02:14] We'll cross the ditch our leader cried and take the forward flank
[00:02:19] But yells of consternation here arose from every rank
[00:02:23] For posted high upon a tree we very plainly saw
[00:02:28] Trespassers prosecuted in accordance with the law
[00:02:33] We're downed exclaimed bold Slattery here ends our grand campaign
[00:02:38] 'Tis merely throwing life away to face that raging drain
[00:02:43] I'm not as bold as lions but I'm braver than a hen
[00:02:47] And he will fight and runs away will live to fight again
[00:02:52] And back to the mountains went the squadrons and platoons
[00:02:57] Four-and-twenty fighting men and a couple of stout gossoons
[00:03:02] When going into action held each musket by the butt
[00:03:06] We sang this song and marched along the Slattery's mounted Fut
