Ludlow Massacre

[00:00:00] Ludlow Massacre - Arlo Guthrie (阿洛·古利)

[00:00:04] It was early springtime when the strike was on

[00:00:09] They drove us miners out of doors

[00:00:13] Out from the houses that the company owned

[00:00:18] We moved into tents up at old ludlow

[00:00:24] I was worried bad about our children

[00:00:29] Soldiers guarding the railroad bridge

[00:00:33] Every once in a while a bullet would fly

[00:00:38] Kick up gravel under my feet

[00:00:43] We were so afraid that would kill our children

[00:00:48] We dug us a cave that was seven foot deep

[00:00:53] And carried our young ones and pregnant women

[00:00:57] Down inside the cave to sleep

[00:01:03] That very night your soldiers waited

[00:01:08] Until all us miners were asleep

[00:01:12] You snick around our little tent town

[00:01:17] Soaked our tents with your kerosene

[00:01:23] You struck a match and in the blaze that started

[00:01:28] You pulled the triggers of your Gatling guns

[00:01:32] I made a run for the children but the fire wall stopped me

[00:01:37] Thirteen children died from your guns

[00:01:43] I carried my blanket to a wire fence corner

[00:01:47] Watched the fire till the blaze died down

[00:01:52] And I helped some people drag their belongings

[00:01:57] While your bullets killed us all around

[00:02:02] I never will forget the look on the faces

[00:02:07] Of the men and women that awful day

[00:02:12] We stood around to preach their funerals

[00:02:17] And lay the corpses of the dead away

[00:02:22] We told the Colorado governor to call the president

[00:02:27] Tell him to call off his national guard

[00:02:32] But the national guard belonged to the governor

[00:02:36] So he didn't try so very hard

[00:02:42] Our women from Trinidad hauled some potatoes

[00:02:47] Up to Walsenburg in a little cart

[00:02:51] They sold their potatoes and brought some guns back

[00:02:56] And they put a gun in every hand

[00:03:21] The state soldiers jumped us in a wire fence corners

[00:03:26] They did not know that we had these guns

[00:03:30] And the red-neck miners mowed down these troopers

[00:03:35] You should have seen those poor boys run

[00:03:41] We took some cement and walled that cave up

[00:03:45] Where you killed these thirteen children inside

[00:03:50] I said god bless the mine workers' union

[00:03:55] Then I hung my head and cried
