《The Sick Note》歌词

[00:00:00] The Sick Note - The Dubliners/Ronnie Drew
[00:00:00] Dear Sir I write this note to you
[00:00:03] To tell you of me plight
[00:00:05] And at the time of writing
[00:00:06] I am not a pretty sight;
[00:00:09] My body is all black and blue
[00:00:11] My face a deathly gray
[00:00:13] And I write this note to say
[00:00:16] Why Paddy's not at work today
[00:00:19] While working on the fourteenth floor
[00:00:22] Some bricks I had to clear;
[00:00:24] Now to throw them down from
[00:00:25] Such a height was not a good idea
[00:00:28] The foreman wasn't very pleased
[00:00:30] He beeing an awkward sod
[00:00:32] He said I'd have to cart them down
[00:00:34] The ladders in me hod
[00:00:37] Now clearing all these bricks
[00:00:39] By hand it was so very slow
[00:00:42] So I hoisted up a barrel
[00:00:44] And secured the rope below
[00:00:46] But in me haste to do the job
[00:00:49] I was to blind to see
[00:00:52] That a barrelful of building bricks
[00:00:54] Was heavier than me
[00:00:57] So when I untied the rope
[00:00:58] The barrel fell like lead
[00:01:00] And clinging tightly to the rope
[00:01:03] I started up instead
[00:01:05] Well I shot up like a rocket
[00:01:07] Till to my dismay I found
[00:01:10] That halfway up
[00:01:11] I met the bloody barrel comming down
[00:01:15] Well the barrel broke me shoulder
[00:01:17] As to the ground it sped
[00:01:19] And when I reached the top
[00:01:21] I banged the pully with my head
[00:01:24] Well I clung on tight through numbed
[00:01:26] Shock from this almighty blow
[00:01:29] And the barrel spilled out half
[00:01:31] The bricks fourteen floors below
[00:01:34] Now when these bricks had fallen
[00:01:36] From the barrel to the floor
[00:01:39] I then outweighed the barrel and
[00:01:41] So started down once more;
[00:01:44] Still clinging tightly to the rope
[00:01:46] I sped towards the ground
[00:01:48] And I landed on the brocken bricks
[00:01:50] That were all scattered round
[00:01:53] Well I lay there groaning on the ground
[00:01:56] I thougth I'd passed the worst
[00:01:59] When the barrel hit the pully-wheel
[00:02:01] And then the bottom burst
[00:02:03] Well a shower of bricks rained down on me
[00:02:06] I hadn't got a hope
[00:02:08] As I lay there moaning on the ground
[00:02:12] I let go of the bloody rope
[00:02:15] The barrel than being heavier
[00:02:17] It started down once more
[00:02:19] And landed right across me
[00:02:21] As I lay upon the floor
[00:02:24] Well it broke three ribs
[00:02:26] And my left arm and I can only say
[00:02:31] That I hope you'll understand
[00:02:33] Why Paddy's not a work today
