[00:03:21] And she thanked the man quickly and ran to the church

[00:03:25] And she burst through the door with puppet held high

[00:03:28] And a hush filled the chapel and the people looked mean

[00:03:53] Esther tried in vain to pacify the mob

[00:03:58] Quibble grew to spat to wrangle then to brawl

[00:04:02] The frenzied congregation struggled desperately to fetch

[00:04:06] The pretty puppet snugly nestled deep in Esther leather sack

[00:04:14] Through the window of the church a storm began to rage

[00:04:17] And Esther knew the time had come to flee

[00:04:21] She scurried down the aisle toward the doorway in the distance

[00:04:25] And out into the rainstorm where she felt she would be free

[00:04:29] But the wind was blowing harder

[00:04:31] And her skirt began to billow

[00:04:33] Until finally her feet began to lift

[00:04:37] And she rose above the houses and the people

[00:04:41] And the chimneys

[00:04:42] And Esther and the doll were set adrift

[00:04:46] Floating higher over the hills and the valleys and treetops

[00:04:52] They'd flutter and glide

[00:04:54] Soaring and turning suspended on air

[00:04:58] With the earth far below them they'd tumble

[00:05:01] And dive through the clouds

[00:07:13] And she began to plummet earthward till she

[00:07:16] Landed in the nasty part of town

[00:07:25] She glanced about the village sure to find the evil men

[00:07:29] Who rob and pillage in the darkest hour of night

[00:07:34] Nervously she fumbled for the pouch that held the

[00:07:37] Puppet on her rump

[00:07:42] Feeling quite outnumbered Esther hid behind

[00:07:45] A nearby pile of lumber where she waited

[00:07:47] Till the dawn

[00:07:49] Cause it would have been a blunder to

[00:07:51] Succumb to a hoodlum on the prowl

[00:08:06] When the morning came she wandered through the streets

[00:08:10] Along the chilly lake that lay beside the town

[00:08:14] At last a peaceful moment but she thought she heard a sound

[00:08:18] It was an angry mob of joggers coming up to knock her down

[00:08:25] As Esther stood and shook her head

[00:08:27] The joggers were approaching

[00:08:29] And she knew she had no choice left but to swim

[00:08:33] As the frosty water sank

[00:08:34] It's bitter teeth into her hide

[00:08:36] She tried to slide the heavy clothing from her skin

[00:08:41] Naked now she made her way toward the shore

[00:08:44] When suddenly she felt a tiny tugging at her toe

[00:08:49] And the puppet she'd forgotten wrapped

[00:08:51] It's tiny

[00:08:52] Little arms around her ankle and wouldn't let her go

[00:08:57] The waves seemed to open and swallow her whole

[00:09:01] As the doll pulled her down through the eerie green deep

[00:09:05] And the sound of the laughing old man filled her ears

[00:09:09] As she drifted away to a tranquil

[00:09:12] And motionless sleep
