[00:01:22] 'Til he lifted the doll for the young girl to see

[00:01:25] And a giant smile grew on his face

[00:01:29] She saw the dolls eyes and she couldn't resist

[00:01:32] And she thanked the man quickly and ran to the church

[00:01:35] And she burst through the door with puppet held high

[00:01:39] And a hush filled the chapel and the people looked mean

[00:02:03] Esther tried in vain to pacify the mob

[00:02:07] Quibble grew to spat to wrangle then to brawl

[00:02:11] The frenzied congregation struggled desperately to fetch

[00:02:15] The pretty puppet snugly nestled deep in esthers leather sack

[00:02:19] Through the window of the church a storm began to rage

[00:02:26] And esther knew the time had come to flee

[00:02:30] She scurried down the aisle toward the doorway in the distance

[00:02:34] And out into the rainstorm where she felt she would be free

[00:02:38] But the wind was blowing harder

[00:02:40] And her skirt began to billow

[00:02:42] Until finally her feet began to lift

[00:02:46] And she rose above the people and the houses

[00:02:49] And the chimneys

[00:02:50] And esther and the doll were set adrift

[00:02:54] Floating higher over the hills and the valleys and treetops

[00:03:00] Theyd flutter and glide

[00:03:02] Soaring and turning suspended on air

[00:03:06] With the earth far below them theyd tumble

[00:03:09] And dive through the clouds

[00:05:18] And she began to plummet earthward till she

[00:05:21] Landed in the nasty part of town

[00:05:30] She glanced about the village sure to find the evil men

[00:05:33] Who rob and pillage in the darkest hour of night

[00:05:38] Nervously she fumbled for the pouch that held the

[00:05:41] Puppet on her rump

[00:05:46] Feeling quite outnumbered esther hid behind

[00:05:48] A nearby pile of lumber where she waited

[00:05:51] Till the dawn

[00:05:53] Cause it would have been a blunder to

[00:05:55] Succumb to a hoodlum on the prowl

[00:06:08] When the morning came she wandered through the streets

[00:06:12] Along the chilly lake that lay beside the town

[00:06:16] At last a peaceful moment but she thought she heard a sound

[00:06:20] It was an angry mob of joggers coming up to knock her down

[00:06:27] As esther stood and shook her head

[00:06:29] The joggers were approaching

[00:06:31] And she knew she had no choice left but to swim

[00:06:35] As the frosty water sank its bitter teeth into her hide

[00:06:38] She tried to slide the heavy clothing from her skin

[00:06:43] *****now she made her way toward the shore

[00:06:45] When suddenly she felt a tiny tugging at her toe

[00:06:50] And the puppet shed forgotten wrapped its tiny

[00:06:53] Little arms around her ankle and wouldn't let her go

[00:06:58] The waves seemed to open and swallow her whole

[00:07:02] As the doll pulled her down through the eerie green deep

[00:07:06] And the sound of the laughing old man filled her ears

[00:07:09] As she drifted away to a tranquil

[00:07:13] And motionless sleep
