Uneasy Rider(Album Version)

[00:00:01] Uneasy Rider- The Charlie Daniels Band

[00:00:11] I was takin' a trip out to L A

[00:00:13] Toolin' along in my Chevrolet

[00:00:16] O

[00:00:17] O

[00:00:21] Just as I crossed the Mississippi line

[00:00:23] I heard that highway start to whine

[00:00:26] Go

[00:00:26] Go

[00:00:28] Well the spare was flat and I got uptight

[00:00:33] 'Cause there wasn't a fillin' station in sight

[00:00:36] So I just limped on down the shoulder on the rim

[00:00:40] I went as far as I could and when I stopped the car

[00:00:43] It was right in front of this little bar

[00:00:45] Kind of redneck lookin' joint called the Dew Drop Inn

[00:00:50] Well I stuffed my hair up under my hat

[00:00:52] And told the bartender that I had a flat

[00:00:54] And would he be kind enough to give me change for a one

[00:00:56] There was one thing I was sure proud to see

[00:01:00] There wasn't a soul in the place 'cept for him and me

[00:01:03] And he just looked disgusted and pointed toward the telephone

[00:01:10] I called up the station down the road a ways

[00:01:13] And he said he wasn't very busy today

[00:01:15] And he could have somebody there in just 'bout ten minutes or so

[00:01:19] He said now you just stay right where you're at

[00:01:22] And I didn't bother tellin' the durn fool

[00:01:25] I sure as hell didn't have anyplace else to go

[00:01:30] I just ordered up a beer and sat down at the bar

[00:01:32] When some guy walked in and said; "Who owns this car

[00:01:35] With the peace sign the mag wheels and four on the floor "

[00:01:40] Well he looked at me and I damn near died

[00:01:42] And I decided that I'd just wait outside

[00:01:44] So I layed a dollar on the bar and headed for the door

[00:01:50] Just when I thought I'd get outta there with my skin

[00:01:52] These five big dudes come strollin' in

[00:01:55] With this one old drunk chick and some fella with green teeth

[00:02:00] And I was almost to the door when the biggest one

[00:02:02] Said; "You tip your hat to this lady son "

[00:02:04] And when I did all that hair fell out from underneath

[00:02:10] Now the last thing I wanted was to get into a fight

[00:02:13] In Jackson Mississippi on a Saturday night

[00:02:14] 'Specially when there was three of them and only one of me

[00:02:17] They all started laughin' and I felt kinda sick

[00:02:22] And I knew I'd better think of somethin' pretty quick

[00:02:24] So I just reached out and kicked old green-teeth right in the knee

[00:02:28] He let out a yell that'd curl your hair

[00:02:32] But before he could move I grabbed me a chair

[00:02:35] And said; "Watch him folks 'cause he's a thouroughly dangerous man "

[00:02:40] "Well you may not know it but this man's a spy

[00:02:43] He's an undercover agent for the FBI

[00:02:45] And he's been sent down here to infiltrate the Ku Klux Klan "

[00:02:50] He was still bent over holdin' on to his knee

[00:02:52] But everyone else was lookin' and listenin' to me

[00:02:55] And I layed it on thicker and heavier as I went

[00:03:00] I said; "Would you beleive this man has gone as far

[00:03:02] As tearin' Wallace stickers off the bumpers of cars

[00:03:05] And he voted for George McGovern for president "

[00:03:07] "He's a friend of them long-haired hippie type pinko fags

[00:03:11] I betcha he's even got a Commie flag

[00:03:15] Tacked up on the wall inside of his garage

[00:03:19] He's a snake in the grass I tell ya guys

[00:03:23] He may look dumb but that's just a disguise

[00:03:25] He's a mastermind in the ways of espionage "

[00:03:30] They all started lookin' real suspicious at him

[00:03:33] And he jumped up an' said; "Now just wait a minute Jim

[00:03:36] You know he's lyin' I've been livin' here all of my life "

[00:03:40] "I'm a faithfull follower of Brother John Birch

[00:03:42] And I belong to the Antioch Baptist Church

[00:03:45] And I ain't even got a garage you can call home and ask my wife "

[00:03:50] Then he started sayin' somethin' 'bout the way I was dressed

[00:03:53] But I didn't wait around to hear the rest

[00:03:55] I was too busy movin' and hopin' I didn't run outta luck

[00:03:57] And when I hit the ground I was makin' tracks

[00:04:02] And they were just takin' my car down off the jacks

[00:04:08] So I threw the man a twenty an' jumped in an' fired that mother up

[00:04:16] Mario Andretti woulda sure been proud

[00:04:18] Of the way I was movin' when I passed that crowd

[00:04:27] Comin' out the door and headin' toward me in a trot

[00:04:30] And I guess I should-a gone ahead and run

[00:04:32] But somehow I couldn't resist the fun

[00:04:34] Of chasin' them all just once around the parkin' lot

[00:04:36] Well they're headin' for their car but I hit the gas

[00:04:38] And spun around and headed them off at the pass

[00:04:41] I was slingin' gravel and puttin' a ton of dust in the air

[00:04:43] Ha Ha well I had 'em all out there steppin' and fetchin'

[00:04:46] Like their heads were on fire and their asses was catchin'

[00:04:48] But I figured I oughta go ahead an split before the cops got there

[00:04:51] When I hit the road I was really wheelin'

[00:04:53] Had gravel flyin' and rubber squeelin'

[00:04:55] And I didn't slow down 'til I was almost to Arkansas

[00:04:58] Well I think I'm gonna re-route my trip

[00:05:03] I wonder if anybody'd think I'd flipped

[00:05:06] If I went to L A - via Omaha
