[00:00:50] Was taken prisoner and brought

[00:00:51] Before the Provost Marshall

[00:00:53] The Marshall said "Sargent

[00:00:54] Why have you brought this man here "

[00:00:57] "For playing cards in church sir "

[00:00:59] "And what have you to say for yourself son "

[00:01:01] "Much sir " replied the soldier

[00:01:03] 'The Marshall said "I hope so for if not

[00:01:06] I shall punish you more than

[00:01:07] Any man was ever punished "

[00:01:09] The soldier said "Sir

[00:01:10] I have been on a march for about six days

[00:01:12] And I had neither Bible nor Prayer Book

[00:01:14] But I hope to satisfy you

[00:01:45] Of the five wise virgins who trimmed their lamps

[00:01:52] Five were foolish and were shut out

[00:01:55] And when I see the six it

[00:01:56] Reminds me that in six days

[00:01:58] God made this great heaven and earth

[00:02:01] And when

[00:02:01] I see the seven it reminds me that

[00:02:03] On the seventh day God rested from His

[00:02:05] Great work When I see the eight I think

[00:02:08] Of the eight righteous persons God saved

[00:02:10] When he destroyed this earth There was Noah

[00:02:13] His wife their three sons and their wives

[00:02:16] And when I see the nine I think of the

[00:02:18] Lepers our Savior cleansed and nine of the ten

[00:02:21] Didn't even thank Him When I see the ten I think

[00:02:24] Of the Ten Commandments God handed down to

[00:02:26] Moses on a tablet of stone When I see the King

[00:02:29] It reminds me that there is but one King of Heaven

[00:02:32] God Almighty And when I see the queen I think

[00:02:36] Of the Blessed Virgin Mary who is Queen of Heaven

[00:02:39] And the jacks or knaves it's the devil And when

[00:02:41] I count the number of spots on a deck of cards

[00:02:43] I find three hundred sixty-five

[00:02:45] The number of days in a year

[00:02:48] Fifty-two cards the number of weeks in a year

[00:02:51] Thirteen tricks the number of weeks in a quarter

[00:02:53] Four suits the number of weeks in a month

[00:02:57] Twelve picture cards the number of months in a year
