[00:00:56] I looked into the tunnel there was no train in sight

[00:01:00] I looked at the furry thing sitting there a truly pitiful sight

[00:01:05] Look I said I'm not sure that's a puppy

[00:01:08] Could be a lice infested long haired rat

[00:01:10] And it's gotta be dead so I'm not jumping down

[00:01:12] And I figured that that was that

[00:01:18] But by now more people arrived on the platform and she said

[00:01:21] Help there's a puppy on the tracks

[00:01:23] They looked for a moment and like true New Yorkers

[00:01:26] Collectively turned their backs

[00:01:28] She said somebody's got to do something

[00:01:30] As we slowly turned around again

[00:01:32] She said someone must have the courage to save him

[00:01:35] It's a puppy It's man's best friend

[00:01:39] Trains come through here every few minutes

[00:01:41] Said a man wearing madras pants

[00:01:43] And it's way too dangerous

[00:01:45] You'd have to be nuts

[00:01:46] To take such a foolish chance

[00:01:48] But the woman was insistent in the time we've been debating

[00:01:51] She said one of you could've jumped down

[00:01:53] Handed him to me by now that puppy could be

[00:01:56] At the animal shelter 'cross town

[00:01:59] We felt bad but no one would do it

[00:02:02] Then a transit cop appeared

[00:02:04] Down at the other end of the platform

[00:02:06] We all yelled hey you come here

[00:02:09] He ran to us I pointed to the train tracks and said

[00:02:12] See that thing furry not to big

[00:02:14] What do you think it is he looked and said

[00:02:17] What you mean that wig

[00:02:22] We stepped back

[00:02:23] A rush of embarrassment swept right through the crowd

[00:02:27] Accented by the blast of a train whistle

[00:02:29] Approaching and growing quite loud

[00:02:32] The B train flattened that furry thing

[00:02:34] We got on board went on our way

[00:02:37] Grateful that we did not risk our lives

[00:02:39] To save a life of a wig that day

[00:02:45] So if you see something on the train tracks

[00:02:48] Take a tip from me

[00:02:50] Don't let anybody talk you into saving it

[00:02:52] It's best to just let it be

[00:02:55] And if you see a person wearing

[00:02:57] What looks like a puppy on their head

[00:02:59] Don't call the police it's only a wig

[00:03:03] And chances are it's already dead
