[00:00:25] A sergeant commanded the boys in church and after the chaplain had read

[00:00:33] Those of the boys who had a prayer book took

[00:00:35] Them out but this one boy had only a deck of cards and so he spread

[00:00:40] Them out

[00:00:42] The sergeant saw the cards and said soldier put away those

[00:00:46] Cards after the services was over the soldier was taken prisoner and

[00:00:51] Brought before the provost marshall

[00:00:55] The marshall said sergeant why have you brought this man

[00:00:58] Here for playing cards in church sir and what have you to say for

[00:01:03] Yourself son much sir replied the soldier

[00:01:08] The marshall said

[00:01:09] I hope so for if not I shall punish you more than any man was ever

[00:01:14] Punished the soldier said sir I have been on the March for about six

[00:01:20] Days

[00:01:21] I have neither a bible nor a prayer book but I hope to satisfy

[00:02:15] Six it reminds me that in six days god made this great heaven and

[00:02:21] When I see the seven it reminds me that on the seventh day god

[00:02:25] Rested from his great work

[00:02:27] And when I see the eight I think of the

[00:02:29] Eight righteous persons god saved when he destroyed this earth there was

[00:02:34] Noah his wife their sons and their wives

[00:02:38] And when I see the nine

[00:02:40] I think of the lepers our savior cleansed and nine out of the ten didn't

[00:02:47] When I see the ten I think of the ten commandments god

[00:02:54] When I see the king it

[00:02:55] Reminds me that there is but one king of heaven god almighty

[00:03:22] Number of weeks in a month

[00:03:24] There are 12 picture cards the number of

[00:03:27] Months in a year

[00:03:29] There are 13 tricks the number of weeks in a quarter

[00:03:34] So you see sir my pack of cards serves me as a bible an almanac and a

[00:03:40] Prayer book

[00:03:42] And friends the story is true
