Uneasy Rider(Album Version)

[00:00:00] Uneasy Rider(Album Version) - The Charlie Daniels Band

[00:00:11] I was takin' a trip out to LA

[00:00:14] Toolin' along in my Chevrolet

[00:00:16] Tokin' on a number and diggin' on the radio

[00:00:21] Just as I crossed the Mississippi line

[00:00:23] I heard that highway start to whine

[00:00:26] And I knew that left rear tire was about to blow

[00:00:31] Well the spare was flat and I got uptight

[00:00:33] 'Cause there wasn't a filling station in sight

[00:00:36] So I just limped on down the shoulder on the rim

[00:00:41] I went as far as I could and when I stopped the car

[00:00:43] It was right in front of this little bar

[00:00:46] Kind of a red-neck lookin' joint called the Dew Drop Inn

[00:00:51] Well I stuffed my hair up under my hat

[00:00:53] And told the bartender that I had a flat

[00:00:56] And would he be kind enough to give me change for a one

[00:01:01] Well there was one thing I was sure proud to see

[00:01:03] There wasn't a soul in the place except for him and me

[00:01:05] He just looked disgusted and pointed toward the telephone

[00:01:11] I called up the station down the road a ways

[00:01:13] He said he wasn't very busy today

[00:01:15] And he could have somebody out there in

[00:01:17] Just about 10 minutes or so

[00:01:20] He said Now you just stay right where you're at

[00:01:23] And I didn't bother to tell the darn fool

[00:01:26] That I sure as hell didn't have anyplace else to go

[00:01:31] I just ordered up a beer and sat down at the bar

[00:01:33] When some guy walked in and said

[00:01:35] Who owns this car

[00:01:36] With the peace sign the mag wheels

[00:01:37] And the four on the floor

[00:01:41] He looked at me and I damn near died

[00:01:43] And I decided that I'd just wait outside

[00:01:46] So I laid a dollar on the bar and headed for the door

[00:01:51] Just when I thought I'd get outta there with my skin

[00:01:54] These 5 big dudes come strollin' in

[00:01:55] With one old drunk chick and some fella with green teeth

[00:02:01] And I was almost to the door when the biggest one

[00:02:03] Said You tip your hat to this lady son

[00:02:06] And when I did all that hair fell out from underneath

[00:02:11] Now the last thing I wanted was to get into a fight

[00:02:13] In Jackson Mississippi on a Saturday night

[00:02:16] Especially when there was three of them

[00:02:18] And only one of me

[00:02:21] They all started laughin' and I felt kinda sick

[00:02:23] And I knew I better think of something pretty quick

[00:02:26] So I just reached out

[00:02:27] And kicked old green teeth right in the knee

[00:02:31] Now he let out a yell that'd curl you're hair

[00:02:33] But before he could move I grabbed me a chair

[00:02:36] And said Now watch him Folks

[00:02:37] 'Cause he's a thoroughly dangerous man

[00:02:41] You may not know it but this man is a spy

[00:02:44] He's a undercover agent for the FBI

[00:02:46] He's been sent down here to infiltrate the Ku Klux Klan

[00:02:51] He was still bent over holdin' on to his knee

[00:02:54] But everybody else was looking and listening to me

[00:02:56] And I laid it on thicker and heavier as I went

[00:03:01] I said Would you believe this man has gone as far

[00:03:04] As tearing Wallace stickers off the bumpers of cars

[00:03:06] And he voted for George McGovern for President

[00:03:11] Well he's a friend of them long haired

[00:03:12] Hippy-type pinko fags

[00:03:14] I betcha he's even got a commie flag

[00:03:16] Tacked up on the wall inside of his garage

[00:03:21] He's a snake in the grass I tell ya guys

[00:03:24] He may look dumb but that's just a disguise

[00:03:26] He's a mastermind in the ways of espionage

[00:03:31] They all started lookin' real suspicious at him

[00:03:34] And he jumped up and said Now just wait a minute Jim

[00:03:37] You know he's lying I been living here all of my life

[00:03:41] I'm a faithful follower of Brother John Birch

[00:03:44] And I belong to the Antioch Baptist Church

[00:03:46] And I ain't even got a garage

[00:03:48] You can call home and ask my wife

[00:03:51] Then he started saying somethin' 'bout the way I was dressed

[00:03:54] But I didn't wait around to hear the rest

[00:03:56] I was too busy moving and hoping I didn't run outta luck

[00:04:02] When I hit the ground I was making tracks

[00:04:04] And they were just taking my car down off the jacks

[00:04:07] So I threw the man a twenty and jumped in

[00:04:08] And fired that mother up

[00:04:12] Mario Andretti would've sure been proud

[00:04:14] Of the way I was movin' when I passed that crowd

[00:04:17] Coming out the door and headed toward me at a trot

[00:04:22] And I guess I should of gone ahead and run

[00:04:24] But somehow I just couldn't resist the fun

[00:04:27] Of chasing them all just once around the parking lot

[00:04:32] Well they headed for their car but I hit the gas

[00:04:34] And spun around and headed them off at the pass

[00:04:37] I was slinging gravel and putting a ton of dust in the air

[00:04:42] I had them all out there steppin' and fetchin'

[00:04:44] Like their heads was on fire and their asses was catchin'

[00:04:47] Then I figured I had better go ahead

[00:04:49] And split before the cops got there

[00:04:52] When I hit the road I was really wheelin'

[00:04:54] Had gravel flyin' and rubber squeelin'

[00:04:57] And I didn't slow down till I was almost to Arkansas

[00:05:02] Well I think I'm gonna reroute my trip

[00:05:04] I wonder if anybody'd think I'd flipped

[00:05:07] If I went to LA via Omaha
