Author’s Prologue

[00:00:00] This day winding down now

[00:00:03] At God speeded summer's end

[00:00:06] In the torrent salmon sun

[00:00:09] In my seashaken house

[00:00:11] On a breakneck of rocks

[00:00:13] Tangled with chirrup and fruit

[00:00:16] Froth flute fin and quill

[00:00:20] At a wood's dancing hoof

[00:00:23] By scummed starfish sands

[00:00:26] With their fishwife cross

[00:00:28] Gulls pipers cockles and snails

[00:00:32] Out there crow black men

[00:00:36] Tackled with clouds who kneel

[00:00:39] To the sunset nets

[00:00:41] Geese nearly in heaven boys

[00:00:45] Stabbing and herons and shells

[00:00:48] That speak seven seas

[00:00:51] Eternal waters away

[00:00:54] From the cities of nine

[00:00:56] Days' night whose towers will catch

[00:00:59] In the religious wind

[00:01:01] Like stalks of tall dry straw

[00:01:07] At poor peace I sing

[00:01:09] To you strangers though song

[00:01:12] Is a burning and crested act

[00:01:16] The fire of birds in

[00:01:18] The world's turning wood

[00:01:21] For my swan splay sounds

[00:01:24] Out of these seathumbed leaves

[00:01:27] That will fly and fall

[00:01:30] Like leaves of trees and as soon

[00:01:33] Crumble Into the dogdayed night

[00:01:38] Seaward the salmon

[00:01:40] Sucked sun slips

[00:01:42] And the dumb swans drub blue

[00:01:45] My dabbed bay's dusk as I hack

[00:01:49] This rumpus of shapes

[00:01:51] For you to know

[00:01:53] How I a spining man

[00:01:56] Glory also this star bird

[00:02:00] Roared sea born

[00:02:02] Man torn blood blest

[00:02:06] Huk I trumpet the place

[00:02:09] From fish to jumping hill Look:

[00:02:13] I build my bellowing ark

[00:02:16] To the best of my love

[00:02:18] As the flood begins

[00:02:20] Out of the fountainhead

[00:02:22] Of fear rage read manalive

[00:02:27] Molten and mountainous to stream

[00:02:30] Over the wound asleep

[00:02:32] Sheep white hollow farms

[00:02:36] To Wales in my arms

[00:02:40] Hoo there in castle keep

[00:02:42] You king singsong owls

[00:02:45] Who moonbeam

[00:02:46] The flickering runs and dive

[00:02:49] The dingle furred deer dead

[00:02:53] Huloo on plumbed bryns

[00:02:56] O my ruffled ring dove

[00:02:58] In the hooting

[00:03:00] Nearly dark

[00:03:01] With Welsh and reverent rook

[00:03:04] Coo rooning the woods' praise

[00:03:08] Who moons her blue notes from her nest

[00:03:12] Down to the curlew herd

[00:03:15] Ho hullaballoing clan

[00:03:17] Agape with woe

[00:03:19] In your beaks

[00:03:20] On the gabbing capes

[00:03:22] Heigh on horseback hill jack

[00:03:25] Whisking hare who

[00:03:28] Hears there

[00:03:29] This fox light

[00:03:31] My flood ship's

[00:03:32] Clangour as I hew and smite

[00:03:35] A clash of anvils for my

[00:03:38] Hubbub and fiddle this tune

[00:03:41] On atounged puffball

[00:03:44] But animals thick as theives

[00:03:47] On God's rough tumbling grounds

[00:03:50] Hail to His beasthood

[00:03:54] Beasts who sleep good and thin

[00:03:56] Hist in hogback woods

[00:03:59] The haystacked

[00:04:00] Hollow farms ina throng

[00:04:03] Of waters cluck and cling

[00:04:05] And barnroofs cockcrow war

[00:04:10] O kingdom of neighbors finned

[00:04:13] Felled and quilled

[00:04:15] Flash to my patch

[00:04:17] Work ark and the moonshine

[00:04:20] Drinking Noah of the bay

[00:04:23] With pelt and scale

[00:04:25] And fleece:

[00:04:28] Only the drowned deep bells

[00:04:30] Of sheep and churches noise

[00:04:33] Poor peace as the sun sets

[00:04:38] And dark shoals every holy field

[00:04:43] We shall ride out alone

[00:04:46] And then

[00:04:47] Under the stars of Wales

[00:04:50] Cry Multiudes of arks Across

[00:04:55] The water lidded lands

[00:04:58] Manned with their loves they'll move

[00:05:01] Like wooden islands hill to hill

[00:05:06] Huloo my prowed dove with a flute

[00:05:10] Ahoy old sea-legged fox

[00:05:14] Tom tit and Dai mouse

[00:05:18] My ark sings in the sun

[00:05:22] At God speeded summer's end

[00:05:26] And the flood flowers now
