[00:00:00] Johnny McEldoo - The Clancy Brothers & Tommy Makem

[00:00:00] Written by:Traditional

[00:00:02] There was Johnny McEldoo and McGee and me

[00:00:05] And a couple of two or three went on the spree one day

[00:00:07] We had a bob or two which we knew how to blew

[00:00:10] And the beer and whiskey flew and we all felt gay

[00:00:12] We visited McCann's Maclaman's Humpty Dan's

[00:00:15] We then went into Swan's our stomachs for to pack

[00:00:17] We ordered out a feed which indeed we did need

[00:00:19] And we finished it with speed but we still felt slack

[00:00:22] Johnny McEldoo turned red white and blue

[00:00:24] As a plate of Irish stew he soon put out of sight

[00:00:27] He shouted out encore with a roar for some more

[00:00:30] That he'd never felt before such a keen appetite

[00:00:32] We ordered eggs and ham bread and jam what a cram

[00:00:35] But him we couldn't ram though we tried our level best

[00:00:37] For everything we brought cold or hot mattered not

[00:00:39] It went down him like a shot and he still stood the test

[00:00:42] He swallowed tripe and lard by the yard we got scarred

[00:00:45] We thought it would go hard when the waiter brought the bill

[00:00:47] We told him to give o'er but he swore he could lower

[00:00:50] Twice as much again and more before he had his fill

[00:00:52] He nearly supped a trough full of broth says McGragh

[00:00:55] He'll devour the tablecloth if you don't hold him in

[00:00:57] When the waiter brought the charge McEldoo felt so large

[00:00:59] He began to shout and barge and his blood went on fire

[00:01:02] He began to curse and swear tear his hair in despair

[00:01:04] To finish the affair called the shop man a liar

[00:01:07] Shop man he through out and no doubt he did clout

[00:01:09] McEldoo he kicked about like an old football

[00:01:12] Tattered all his clothes broke his nose I suppose

[00:01:14] He would have killed him with a few blows in no time at all

[00:01:17] Mceldoo began to howl and to growl by my soul

[00:01:19] Through an empty bowl at the shop keepers head

[00:01:21] Struck poor Mickey Flynn took the skin from his chin

[00:01:24] An erection did begin and we all fought and bled

[00:01:26] Peelers did arrive man alive four or five

[00:01:29] At us they made a dive for us all to march away

[00:01:31] Paid for all the mate that we ate stood a trait

[00:01:34] And went home to ruminate on the spree that day
